BeastLink Servers & Lobbies

How Grove Street talks about EA lobby size, 1.0 scale, and keeping SuperDestruction playable online.

BeastLink Servers, Lobbies & Player Count

Marketing slides love the number 32. Grove Street’s CEO interview and Early Access FAQ paint a more careful picture: Early Access will likely cap around 24 players until servers prove stable under multi-Beast SuperDestruction, while 32 remains the 1.0 maximum and a possible unofficial-server experiment. This page is the lobby-size decoder so you do not buy in expecting day-one megaswarms.

Early Access: stability first

Thomas Williamson has said EA will probably stay near 24 until the team is confident the game performs well for everyone. Crowding already feels real around that number when multiple Beasts and city-scale debris are live. Treat 24 as the practical launch stress window, then watch patch notes for raises.

1.0 and unofficial paths to 32

32 players is described as the maximum for the full release. The studio has also floated letting unofficial bouts push higher counts if a layout proves it works, plus future experiments such as four teams of eight. None of that replaces the official EA cap on day one — see the Roadmap.

Even Beast access, not humans-versus-monsters by default

Competitive modes are designed so both teams have equal access to Beasts. Pure asymmetrical human-vs-Beast rules made balance too harsh because kaiju HP and damage sit so high. That is why becoming a Beast yourself — or coordinating vehicle focus fire — remains the real answer to a hostile kaiju. Mode primers: Battle Arena and Convergence.

PvE arrives with Early Access

PvE-style experiences were called out as missing from beta but planned for Early Access, including friend-group quasi-campaign loops of humans versus Beasts or the reverse. Warm up offline first via Story & Offline, then graduate into cooperative playlists.

What SuperDestruction means for lobby feel

Networked destruction with hundreds of thousands of objects is why lobby size is not a vanity metric. GPU-side physics and compressed sync make large fights expensive. If your PC already sits near minimum specs, prefer calmer modes until drivers and patches settle — System Requirements and the System Requirements Checker.

Practical expectations for August 18, 2026

  1. Expect dedicated online servers and progression, not LAN-only chaos. 2) Expect EA lobbies closer to 24 than 32. 3) Expect even team Beast access in PvP. 4) Expect PvE options that beta did not stress. Cross-check scope on Early Access Overview and money questions on Price & Credits.
